International Safety Awards invites applications for 2025 with four new categories

For the first time in the event’s 67-year history, an Environmental Award will be handed out to recognise an organisation that has put in place a well-thought-out climate change adaptation strategy. In another first, a new Rising Female Star Award will recognise women who are shaping future leadership in the health, safety, wellbeing and environmental management sector.

The newly-launched David Parr Medal – named after British Safety Council’s late technical director, who first became involved in the industry following his own experience in the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 – will recognise a public venue that has developed a stand-out health, safety and wellbeing initiative in 2024.
Also new for 2025 is a Lifetime Achievement Award for people who have made an outstanding contribution to workplace health, safety and wellbeing throughout their career. This will be voted for by British Safety Council’s Trustees.
The seven other free-to-enter awards are:
- Seize the Opportunity Award
- CEO Award
- Health and Safety Transformation Award
- Health, Safety and Wellbeing Ambassador of the Year Award
- Team of the Year Award
- The James Tye Award
- Wellbeing Initiative Award
Businesses can also apply to be recognised as ‘best in class’ across the following four categories:
- Sector Awards
- Best in Country Awards
- Best in Company Award
- Chief Adjudicator’s Award
“We are delighted to introduce four new awards this year, acknowledging the strides that organisations are making around health and safety in a time of climate crisis, as well as highlighting our desire to recognise leading women in the health, safety and wellbeing profession,” said British Safety Council chief executive Mike Robinson. “I would encourage all organisations and leaders around the world who are proud of their track record to put themselves forward for an award.”
Last year, 1124 organisations from around the world won an International Safety Award. A full list of 2024’s winners can be found here.
The closing date for applications for the 2025 Awards is 3 February 2025 (3 March for the free-to-enter awards). A gala dinner will be held later in the year to celebrate the winners and present the awards.
